The local presence
The valuesSalt occupies an important place in the majority of religions. It is a liturgical instrument which symbolizes faith and fidelity (the salt of the alliance), and also infertility and malediction. The wife of Lot was transformed into a pillar of salt because she turned to look at the destruction of Sodom, despite the commandment not to. Salt became a living element, a spiritual force in the teachings of Christ who, addressing his disciples, declared :
« You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavour, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men. » (Matthew, V, 13).
