On average, Sfax produces 330 KT per year at its 1,500 hectare site.
On the national market, the Sfax salt works is naturally positioned to supply the southern part of Tunisia. The packaging workshop processes approximately 10 KT per year and packages the salt in everything from one kg polyethylene bags to one tonne big-bags.
In terms of export, the traditional markets for this salt works are the agriculture and food industry and the major salting markets in northern Europe. Other openings also exist because Sfax can offer almost all qualities of sea salt. The site exports more than 300,000 tonnes per year.
The milling-screening unit, installed on our specialist quay at the port of Sfax, is designed to meet the most specific requests in terms of granulometry.
The facility at Sfax also produces close to 30,000 tonnes of chloride water mainly for the European sugar industry.
The Central Laboratory at Sfax performs the controls and analyses to ensure the quality follow-up is in accordance with the physico-chemical standards required by the international markets. The Central Laboratory also provides support to the laboratories at the other facilities.
