Salt contains two nutrients without which the body cannot function : sodium and chloride.

Salt is the main source of sodium in our food. It distributes water correctly around our bodies, regulates our blood pressure and volume, helps our muscles and heart function correctly and transmits nerve impulses to our brains.

Chloride is necessary for digestion and breathing.

The recommendation daily amount of salt laid out by the AFSSA (French Food Safety Agency) is 6 to 8 g/day.
